Wix can be understood as a website builder which helps the users to make websites or web applications for different platforms like mobiles, desktops, tablets etc. It comes packed with a large number of tools which allow users to build a website by drag and drop functionality. Along with website building, it also provides hosting features at a reasonable price. Wix was launched in the year 2006.

WordPress can be understood as a content management system which was built by Matt Mullenweg in 2003. It is built using the PHP programming language. The development credit for this platform goes to WordPress Foundation. It is a free and open-source platform which was initially released in May 2003 and a stable version was released in 2022. It has a special feature of customizable plugins for building web applications. It uses HTML, CSS and JavaScript for building interactive web applications. It uses MySQL as its database for storing data.

1. It is not a free platform so users pay according to the chosen plan. WordPress is free of cost to use and it is open source only hosting services are paid.
2. Wix is an advanced platform with drag and drops functionality. WordPress allows easy building of websites but it does not have drag and drop functionality.
3. It has a lot of free templates but customization of templates is not easy. A lot of themes are available for free and can be easily customized.
4. It has a dedicated support panel for its customers. It does not provide any support for its customers.
5. It has many plugins and customizing options but most of them are paid. It has more customizing and plugin options available.
6. Its services are costlier than WordPress. In terms of cost, WordPress is cheaper than Wix.
7. No programming knowledge is required for template customization. Basic understanding of HTML and CSS is required for theme customization.
8. It is popular but not as much as Wix. WordPress is more popular than Wix.
