Online trading of goods and services is growing at a very fast rate as it has several benefits like global reach, cost-effective, targeted etc. so most of the companies are moving towards digital platforms. Creating digital platforms requires many things from technical knowledge to computer resources so it is difficult for individuals or small businesses to create a digital platform on their own. Two such platforms are WooCommerce and Wix which provides different services to build websites and web applications for personal or commercial use.

Wix can be understood as a website builder which helps the users to make websites or web applications for different platforms like mobiles, desktops, tablets etc. It comes packed with a large number of tools which allow users to build a website by drag and drop functionality. Advantages of Wix

  • It is a cloud service which can be assessed from anywhere and at any time.
  • It also gives hosting facilities so no need to worry about hosting websites.
  • It provides free images and logos to use on your websites without any copyright issues.

Disadvantages of Wix

  • It took time to get ranked on google means it is not google friendly.
  • It is not possible to migrate websites created on Wix to other platforms or hosting services. 

WooCommerce is defined as an online platform for e-commerce activities, it is designed on WordPress and provides highly customized features. It is an open-source platform and the company credited for the development of this platform is Automattic. It was first launched in 2011 and its stable version was released in 2022. The authors of this platform are Mike Jolley and James Koster.

Advantages of WooCommerce

  • It is completely free which makes it the first choice for the customers who do not have enough budget.
  • It provides a large number of pre-built store designs which can be easily customized.
  • It has better response time on the front end as well as on the back end.
  • It allows the user to have complete control of the flow of data and its features.

Disadvantages of WooCommerce

  • It does not work with platforms other than hosted by WordPress.
  • It requires payment for advanced features like using your own payment gateway.
