Wipro offers a Work Integrated Learning Program for technical graduates under which, if you are an engineering graduate then you will be qualified for WISTA (sub) program and if you are a BCA/BSC graduate then you will be qualified for WASE (sub) program. Both of these programs are offered under a 5-year bond agreement within which 4 years are for post-graduate study (M.Tech) from a reputed university.

I was a BCA graduate and had applied for WASE recruitment. Wipro conducts interviews zone-wise and assigns interview locations accordingly for students whose college for any reason not invites companies to conduct interviews, rather relies on companies to allocate an interview location for their students.

Since we came under the eastern zone our interview location was conducted in Patna. It was almost a full-day interview for us. We were supposed to report at the location at 10 AM. We waited for HR to come, and he made us wait for three hours. After that, he gave a brief on how Wipro selects candidates, what is expected from us, and gave tips on ways to communicate properly.

Round 1: This round was divided into two parts – The aptitude test & typing speed test.

For the aptitude test, we had to answer 60 questions within 60 minutes spread over different categories like – quantitative, qualitative, logical reasoning, and English communication. We had to score at least 60% to qualify. On the other hand, for the typing speed test we had been prompted with a random question like – “How is democracy changing developing countries in the world?” and we had 20 minutes to write more than or equal to 140 words as an answer to that.

You will get your result right after submitting your response.

Telephonic Round: Then, students who qualified successfully were asked to appear for a telephonic technical round interview. Now, for a technical interview there were two approaches that the interviewer followed :

For candidates who had not worked on any projects had been questioned mostly on the technologies they have developed skills on or mentioned in their CV. Questions asked were mostly conceptual – “What will happen if..” or “Verbally explain the algorithmic approach to find a solution of a particular problem”.

For candidates who had worked on the project(s) were asked questions mostly around that only. For me, it was a set of basic questions just to understand if I know what I built and few basic questions on the OOP concept in Python. I was frank and had already mentioned that I did not cover the OOP part of Python yet as it was not in our course structure. Always be frank, real, and clear to your interviewer in order to avoid later series of “Umm…..”, “I can come up with an answer thought” and other time-wasting ways while answering a question.

Also, be prepared for the “Please, introduce yourself” question. Never ever mention personal information like – how many family members you have, how many contacts you have in technical industries. Keep it concise and only about yourself, the qualifications/certifications, and other technical background details that the company can take benefit from which will further help in avoiding the question – “Why should we hire you?”.

HR Round: Once we qualified technical interview successfully we were asked to join the final round (HR round) with HR after a short break of 45 minutes.

For me, the HR round felt like a rapid-fire as the HR guy was asking us questions quickly and sometimes in the middle of answering the previous one. So try to be as quick and fluent as possible in that scenario. If allowed ask your peers who appeared previous to you in the interview, take a rough idea of what’s coming and try to prepare as much as you can. Again, we were asked simple non-technical questions like – “Introduce yourself”, “Which project have you worked on ?”, “Which programming languages are you familiar with?”, “Can you adapt to learn other technologies on a need basis ?”, and ultimately “Are you ready to relocate to a different city?”

And that was it.

I got the offer letter 3 months later.
