The weather conditions of Rajasthan are very harsh as during the day the temperatures are very high and during the night there is a rapid drop in temperature this makes it very different to survive in that climate and because of this people come up with various ideas to protect themselves from the harsh weather conditions the people of the state have taken some steps which include painting the house white. This is a very common practice in hot countries to paint houses white as when the sunrays fall on the walls the white color reflects most of the heat and absorbs very less when compared to the remaining color. All the colors have various capacities to absorb heat. For example, black color absorbs a lot of heat whereas white color absorbs very less heat, and bright colors like red yellow, or white reflect the light this is due to why it is used in painting houses so this means all colors have different absorption capacities and we can choose the required color based on this property.

As we know black is the color that absorbs the maximum heat, it absorbs all light, as a result, it is the hottest color white color is the exact opposite of this it is the coolest color and it absorbs the least heat. The white color reflects the sunlight. Due to the natural property, some heat is even absorbed by the white color but it is minimal when compared to the remaining colors making White the coolest possible color. This is a property that is not only used on houses but also in all the colors in general including colored clothes and doors. So houses are painted white to reduce the temperature inside the houses as it reflects most of the sunlight and keeps the temperature cool inside the house.

The walls of houses there are very thick and the roofs are flat to help maintain the lowest temperature and allow the house to retain humidity which in turn helps in lowering the temperature and maintaining a warm temperature when required. The raw material used in the construction of these houses is mud, tones, and wood. These materials are very poor conductors of heat and hence keep the temperature low and this is the reason they are used in making these houses. The main reason for painting the houses white is to reduce heat absorption and hence reduce the temperature inside the house.
