Hi everyone! Hope all of you have prepared well for this placement season. In the first week of January, Wells Fargo visited our campus for the Program Associate role. The process had three rounds.

  • Online Assessment: Resume shortlisting was done and the shortlisted students (primarily CGPA based) got the test link. The Online Assessment was conducted on AMCAT and had three sections:
  • Verbal Aptitude: The questions were from ‘Reading Comprehensions’, ‘Fill in the Blanks’, ‘Error Detection’, ‘Paragraphs’, ‘Vocabulary & Grammar’, ‘One Word Substitution’, ‘Antonyms and Synonyms’, etc.
  • Data Interpretation/Logical Reasoning: The questions were a mix of standard DI/LR questions like pattern recognition, seating arrangement in DI, and calculating values from graphs, charts in the LR section. This section is really easy if you have done such questions in the past. Please go through the questions if you can get your hands on  them. I highly suggest this because the questions asked during this test were the same questions from the internship test of Wells Fargo (word-to-word).
  • Programming: There were two coding questions to be solved in 60 minutes. Both questions were based on strings and were very straightforward. I submitted a brute-force/hash-map solution for both of them, and I was able to pass all test cases.

Tips: Practice the previously asked coding questions of the company. Try submitting the brute-force solution first.

Technical Interview (Round-1): This round was held on Zoom and lasted around 40 minutes. About 30 students were shortlisted for this round. The interview was pretty straightforward as well.

  • Introduce yourself
  • Give real-world examples/applications of binary trees, stacks, queues, and linked lists.
  • Coding question – Detect and remove loop in linked list.

Tips: You can expect the first question in any interview. So prepare for such questions in advance. The interview depends highly on the interviewer. In my case, the interviewer was more inclined towards seeing the code, so I did not waste much time explaining the entire approach. I provided a brief explanation wherever required while writing the code.

Managerial Interview (Round-2): Just before the 1st round ended, one of the senior executives joined the meeting. After the 1st round was over, he asked for feedback from the interviewer. He then followed up with a series of questions.
Introduce yourself. Then there was a brief discussion on the projects/topics mentioned in my resume. It was followed by several behavioural questions like do you prefer to work in a team or alone, what is your biggest achievement, are you planning to go for higher education etc.

Tips: Prepare some common HR questions beforehand. Try to relate your answers with whatever you have mentioned in your resume.

Telephonic HR Round: In the evening, I got a call from HR. They asked me what I felt about the previous interviews and whether I had given interviews at other companies. After this, they gave me the CTC breakdown and asked about my location preference. I received a final offer through the placement team the next day.

Final Tip: Be confident in your preparation.

  • Go through past interview experiences.
  •  Make sure you are thorough with each point that you have mentioned in your resume.
  •  For this, you can have a resume discussion with your seniors/friends.
  • Lastly, be confident during your interviews. No need to panic if you don’t have answers to certain questions.
  • The ability to accept that you don’t know something goes a long way.

All the best for your placements!
