USER POLICY

GeeksforGeeks is engaged in the business of imparting online Technical Education platforms for the Students and Professional and that through which it offers Free Tutorials, Millions of Articles, Live/Online and Classroom Courses, Frequent Coding Competitions, Webinars by Industry Experts, Internship opportunities and Job Opportunities etc.

This Policy applies to all your activities on the GFG website & app, or for any other Services. It applies on the Contributors once they have been provided with the Offer Letter or the Master Service Agreement. Your Service Agreement or the Offer Letter is subject to any changes made in this User Policy.

If you Publish/Improve an Article on the GFG platform, you must also agree to the Master Service Agreement, the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Copyright Policy or any other policy which exists or may be published in future on GFG’s website & app.

 

Creating Account:

When setting up and maintaining your account, you must provide and continue to provide accurate and complete information, including a valid email address. You have complete responsibility for your account and everything that happens on your account, including for any harm or damage (to us or anyone else) caused by someone using your account without your permission. This means you need to be careful with your password. You may not transfer your account to someone else or use someone else’s account. If you contact us to request access to an account, we will not grant you such access unless you can provide us with the information that we need to prove you are the owner of that account. In the event of the death of a user, the account of that user will be closed.

You may not share your account login credentials with anyone else. You are responsible for what happens with your account and GFG will not intervene in disputes between contributors and any third party to whom account login credentials have been shared. You must notify us immediately upon learning that someone else may be using your account without your permission (or if you suspect any other breach of security) by contacting our Support Team. We may request some information from you to confirm that you are indeed the owner of your account.

You agree and undertake to provide true, correct, accurate and complete information, including your:

(i) Name

ii) Email

(iii) Phone number

(iv) Account Details

In addition, from time to time, based on the Services availed or Contribution made by you, we may request for additional information such as your address, financial information, and educational qualifications. Please do not share your Account details, personal information with others.

 

Contributor Terms:

Under this clause when a contributor publishes/Improves content on GFG, they grant GFG a license to offer a license for the content to students. This means that we have the right to sublicense or keep it open for Public at large.

In legal and more complete terms, GFG grants you (as a Contributor) a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and view the content which you have published on our website & app, solely for your personal and publishing your Article purpose. You may not reproduce, redistribute, transmit, assign, sell, broadcast, rent, share, lend, modify, adapt, edit, create derivative works of, sublicense, or otherwise transfer or use any content.

We generally give a lifetime access of the account to the Contributors, however, we reserve the right to revoke any license to access and use, also that your working with the company will depend on the tenure selected by you, at the time of application.

You have the right to extend your Internship or the Service Agreement, where in such a situation you will require to contact the Support team,

During the Tenure of your Contributorship with GFG, as described in you Internship Offer Letter or Service Agreement, you will be allowed to use the said tag as your Professional Title, anywhere on your Social Media platforms or on your CV, but as soon as the said relation between us gets over either due to Termination or due to Efflux of Time, you will seize all your right to express your any current relation with GFG on any Social Media Platform or even on your CV.

We have the right to remove any content at any point in time, in the event when we find that the content is against our policies or is unlawful in nature, for example, if the course or other content you have written in is the object of a copyright complaint.

 

Payments

We agree to pay the fees for content that you have been able to successfully publish/Improved on our website & app.

For Topics Picked:

The payment will be made to the account of the Freelancer after at least 1 article or Content written / Improved by the Freelancer has been published on the Website & app, the Freelancer will be requested to apply for payment, and payment will be made in the month subsequent to the submission of the application for payment by the Freelancer.

Content Writer: The payment may vary from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1200 per article, at the discretion of the Company on a case-to-case basis, depending on the technical complexity and quality of content, and reviews submitted by readers.

Content Improvement: Below mentioned amount will be given to the freelancer for any improvements and additions provided by him/her to existing articles published on the Website & app, subject to publishing of the modified Content and at the discretion of the Company.

For DS/Algo – Rs.100/-

Others – Rs.50/-

For User defined topics:

Content Writers: For any article published on a topic which is personally defined by the writer, that is if the given topic was not listed on the website & app but was published on writer’s personally defined topics, for such articles the writer can only apply for remuneration for their contributed articles meets our monetization guidelines. The eligibility shall be counted on an individual article basis.

This eligibility is applicable only for articles written on topics defined by users, and not for those written from the picked section.

The Payment threshold shall be solely determined at the discretion of the Company.

Payment guidelines:

That in case the First Party fixes the payment of the author for a certain amount, the payment of the author will differ in case he/she writes an article of basic nature under categories for which the amount fixed by the First party is less than the fixed payment of the author. The basic categories will be clearly mentioned in the guidelines on the Write portal.

That in case of any contest writing events organized by the First Party the payment of the articles written by the author for that contest will also differ from the fixed payment of the author.

TDS at the applicable rates under Section 194J of the Income Tax Act 1961 will be deducted by the Company before any payments are made.

The Freelancer must have a PAN Card and an account in an Indian Bank to receive payments from the Company, otherwise you will be subject to TDS at a higher applicable rate.

No payments will be made to bank accounts in Foreign Countries.

The account details given by the Contributor shall strictly belong to the person who is entering into the Contract or is applying for Internship, if the said account details provided does not belong to the party to the contract or Internship, that shall lead to instant Termination of the Internship Offer Letter or the Service Agreement without giving any prior notice by GFG.

 The Contents/Articles:

You can only use GF’G’s website & app and your account with us for lawful purposes. You’re responsible for all the content that you post on our platform. You should keep the reviews, questions, posts, courses and other content you upload in line with our Policies and the laws of the Land, and also respect the intellectual property rights of others. We can ban your account for repeated or major offenses.

Plagiarism is strictly prohibited: Please note that the articles which you submit goes through a plagiarism test, and if it is found to be plagiarized, it will amount to instant rejection of your article and termination of your Agreement and/or Offer Letter as well.

Ownership of work product: 

The Contributors agree that all work product, information or other materials created and developed by them in connection with the performance of the Services and any resulting intellectual property rights are the sole and exclusive property of GFG and that the second party shall not have any ownership claim on any such product.

The Contributor acknowledge that the Work Product shall, to the extent permitted by law, be considered a “work made for hire” within the definition under Copyright Act of 1957, as amended, (the “Copyright Act”) and that GFG is deemed to be the author and is the owner of all copyright and all other rights therein. If the work product is not deemed to be a “work made for hire” under the Copyright Act, then Contributor hereby assigns to GFG all of Independent Contractor’s and Intern’s rights, title and interest in and to the Work Product, including but not limited to all copyrights, publishing rights and rights to use, reproduce and otherwise exploit the Work Product in any and all formats, media, or all channels, whether now known or hereafter created.  

 Trust and Safety:

You agree to abide by this policy, and other content quality standards or policies prescribed by GFG, from time to time. You should check these policies periodically to ensure that you comply with any updates to them. You understand that your use of the Services is subject to GFG’s approval, which we may grant or deny at our sole discretion.

We reserve the right to remove content, suspend payouts, and/or ban instructors for any reason at any time, without prior notice, including in cases where:

  1. You do not comply with our policies or legal terms.
  2. Your content falls below our quality standards or has a negative impact on the student experience.
  3. If you engage in behavior that might reflect unfavorably on GFG or bring GFG into public disrepute, contempt, scandal, or ridicule.
  4. If you engage in the services of a marketer or other business partner who violates GFG’s policies.
  5. If you use the Services in a way that constitutes unfair competition, such as promotion of their off-site business in a way that violates GFG’s policies.

Legal Terms:

The terms of this Policy is like any other contract, and they have important legal terms that protect us from the countless things that could happen and that clarify the legal relationship between us and you. These Terms, and any rights and licenses granted hereunder, may not be transferred or assigned by you, but may be assigned by the Company without restriction.

Reporting an Article:

Whenever a user finds an article that violates the community guidelines or someone else’s or their intellectual property rights, they have the option to report the article. Alternatively, they can send us an email with the details of the Article and the problematic content. Such a request will receive a response from us within approximately 48 hours of receipt.
