The _.isFloat() method checks whether the given value is a Float value or not, and returns the corresponding boolean value.

Syntax:

_.isFloat( value );

Parameters:

  • value: Given value to be checked for Float value.

Return Value: This method returns a Boolean value(Returns true if the given value is even, else false).

Note: This will not work in normal JavaScript because it requires the underscore.js contrib library to be installed. Underscore.js contrib library can be installed using npm install underscore-contrib .

Example 1:

Javascript

// Defining underscore contrib variable
var _ = require('underscore-contrib');

// Checking
console.log("The Value is Float : "
    + _.isFloat(4.91));

Output:

The Value is Float : true

Example 2:

Javascript

// Defining underscore contrib variable
var _ = require('underscore-contrib');

// Checking
console.log("The Value is Float : "
    + _.isFloat(21));

Output:

The Value is Float : false

Example 3: For this method values 2.0 and 2 both will be considered as an integer, so this method will return false.

Javascript

// Defining underscore contrib variable
var _ = require('underscore-contrib');

// Checking
console.log("The Value is Float : "
    + _.isFloat(2.0));

Output:

The Value is Float : false

Example 4: A string containing float value will return true.

Javascript

// Defining underscore contrib variable
var _ = require('underscore-contrib');

// Checking
console.log("The Value is Float : "
    + _.isFloat("2.188"));

Output:

The Value is Float : true
