UGC-NET | UGC NET CS 2018 July – II | Question 96

Perform the following operation for the binary equivalent of the decimal numbers (−14)10+(−15)10
The solution in 8 bit representation is:
(A) 11100011
(B) 00011101
(C) 10011101
(D) 11110011

Answer: (A)

Explanation: (−14)10+(−15)10 = (-29)10
Now 29 in binary(8 bit) is 00011101 But the number is negative.
Take 1’s complement 11100010 and 1 to it
I.e. 11100011.
So, option (A) is correct.
