Times Internet visited BITS Pilani for software engineer profile for their subsidiary, dineout.co.in. Circuit branches + Mech were eligible. There were total 4 rounds. As this was taking place during the covid pandemic, therefore, all rounds were in online mode.

  • Coding test
  • Technical interview 1
  • Technical interview 2
  • HR (Telephonic)

Round 1 (Online Test): Platform was TechGig which is also owned by Times Internet. There were 20 MCQs and 1 coding question. Test duration was 30+30 Mins. MCQs were based on logical reasoning and aptitude. The difficulty was easy. In the coding part, the question was based on arrays, the difficulty level was easy-moderate.

Round 2 (Technical 1 for 30 min): I was asked to Introduce myself. Then I went on explaining my internships and trying to justify sitting for a software despite being having no experience in it and being from Mechanical Engineering background. After that the interviewer asked me:

1.) A simple coding question https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/find-the-largest-three-elements-in-an-array/.

2.) To discuss about data structures and algorithms used to implement the elevator system.

Round 3 (Technical 2 for 30 min): The Introduction was skipped due to time constraints and was asked a few coding questions.

1.) https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/sort-binary-array-using-one-traversal/ but in time complexity better than O(n).

2.) What is bst and find out whether a given binary tree is a bst or not. It was followed by a few follow up questions.

3.) A few questions around pointers like what is a dangling pointer.

4.) One or more qtns that I don’t remember.

Round 4 (HR): A telephonic interview where the duration of this round was only 15 min. Standard HR questions were asked. Be well informed about where you are applying and why would you like to work at that place.

Tips: Be confident, practice coding questions well (I used gfg and leetcode) and research well about the organization you are applying to.
