TCS announced it’s National Qualifier Test(NQT) in the month of June 2019 for the graduates of 2020 and 2019,2018,2017 were also eligible to give the test. The exam took place in three phases:

  • Round 1(At a TCS ion Centre): Aptitude and a coding question(beginner level). The coding question was similar to this one https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/program-count-vowels-string-iterative-recursive/.
  • Round 2(At TCS Gitobidan ,Saltlake): If you perform well and are among TCS’s topper’s list then you’re eligible for TCS’s digital exam which has the same pattern as in round 1, but the questions here are of intermediate level. I remember the coding question it was https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/sieve-of-eratosthenes/.
  • Round 3: If you clear round 2 as well as you’re eligible to give TCS’s digital interview otherwise you’re eligible to sit for TCS’s ninja interview.

Since I wasn’t able to clear round 2 I was eligible to sit for TCS’s ninja interview.

It was held at TCS Gitanjali Park, Kolkata and we were told to report at 8 o’clock in the morning. After our document verification was done we were told to sit in the waiting area outside the several interview panel rooms, and they would call out each of our names individually.

Once my name was called I went into the panelist’s room & here is a catch, there were two types of panel rooms one consists of Technical Round +Manegerial Round + HR interview, and the other type of panel has two interviews TR at first and MR+HR  is taken in a separate room. Mine was the first one.

Interview: Enter, the room, and by the looks, and as I remember Panelist 1 was TR,2 was MR and 3 was HR. It had lasted for about 10-15 minutes.

Me: May I come In?

Panelist 1: Sure, Sit!

Panelist 3: Introduce yourself.

Me: Gave my intro.

Panelist 3: Why do you want to join TCS?

Me: I wanted an IT job and what could be better than joining the biggest IT service provider in the country.

Panelist 3: Oh is it?, Can you say who is the present CEO of TCS?

Me: I remembered it was Rajesh Gopinathan as it was the hottest question the HR’s were asking in our batch.

Panelist 1: So tell me something about your internship!

Me: So our internship was (In detail about the things I did and learned from the internship) ………

Panelist 1: Tell me something about the project you have mentioned in your resume.

Me: Detailed Explanation of the project (he continued asking me about the technologies related to my project since mine was related to Web Applications, so he asked me questions related to HTML, CSS, JS, and PHP, and something’s related to NLP)

Panelist 1: What is the difference between DBMS AND RDBMS?

Me: Explained…..

Panelist 1: What is the difference between GROUP BY and HAVING clause in SQL.

Me: Explained…

Panelist 2: She gave me a very lame aptitude questions something about a bucket of water and river, and I was in no mood for aptitude questions and politely said that I won’t be able to solve that. She encouraged me to solve it by giving hints, but I was not in the mood to take such questions.

Panelist 3: Can you work in different shifts and do you know about the different policies in TCS?

Me: Yes I can & I’m Aware…

Panelist 2: Do you have any questions for us?

Me: Asked about the onboarding procedures and all…

This was my interview and the interview ended after this. After 2 or 3 weeks we received the results in our mails, and I was selected for TCS’s ninja job offer.
