TCS Interview Experience | Codevita Season 8(Off-Campus)

ABOUT CODEVITA:– (FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF GETTING A JOB.

I reported at 8:00 AM on 1st August 2019,   at TCS Gitanjali Park, Kolkata. We were asked to get our documents verified(Carry all the documents as mentioned in the email) and were asked to wait until our name was called by the employees who were managing the process.

Round 1:  In that particular slot, 500 students were called for the interview.I waited for 7 hours and then my name was called.I felt a bit nervous and was really hungry.(Suggestion :—  Carry some food.)

Wished HR ma’am and the others(Manager and the person who took my technical  interview)a good afternoon in a polite way.They reciprocated the same and the HR ma’am asked me to take the seat.

HR round starts:– 

1.> Well Arindam, you’re from Kolkata, how long it took to reach Gitanjali Park?

Answer:– Ma’am, It took 2 hours.

2.>So  if you work here, you need to travel 4 hours everyday. How will you manage?

Answer:- Ma’am I will find a place nearby to stay and this will help me to put my entire effort into the work, I will do here.

3.>Well, did ask your parents regarding it?

Ans:– Ma’am I haven’t discussed this matter with them but I feel that they will allow me to work according to the way that helps me.

4.>Your grades are good, Aren’t you interested in higher studies?

Ans:– Ma’am I will not say that I am not interested but now I am completely engrossed in learning new stuffs and finding opportunities to apply them.I have always wanted to be a good techie.

5.>You mean to say that higher studies will not offer that room to explore new stuffs, isn’t it?

Answer:– Ma’am, Right now I haven’t thought of pursuing higher studies and am not taking any preparation for exams like Gate and other international exams(Believe me, I completely forgot the name of the exam), so I am unsure whether higher studies can make me what I want.

6.>Mention some attributes not mentioned in your resume.

Answer:–(This is an easy one.. I mentioned my hobbies and my inclination towards social activities).

Another ma’am  asked some questions in the middle about my strengths and weakness.

Round 2:Now starts the much – awaited Technical round.

It’s 3:50 PM ..

He asked me to explain the code I have done in the Contest(Why haven’t you applied dynamic programming?

Answer:– Based on the observation of the problem statement and the test cases, I felt that this problem just needs to increment the ith loop by 2 and I  considered the corner cases after getting an error initially.I have also explained my logic.)

So, you have done both of them in Java, How will you rate yourself in Java?

Answer:– Sir, I will rate myself 3/5 in Java because I don’t know a lot of stuffs.

Ok, What is static keyword?

Explained..

Why we write a method inside an interface?

Answer:– Reason :– Abstraction, Allows multiple inheritance and offers code reusability. This question is a bit self-explanatory.

How will you find the occurences of all characters in a string using Collections?

Answer:– I wrote the Java Code which uses the application of HashMap to count the characters.

Have you studied SQL?

Yes, Sir

Asked some basic questions like:–

1.>Foreign Keys, Functional Dependency(asked the highest normal form possible for a particular FD set).

And one query:– How to display duplicate values from a table?

What project have you done?

I told him about the application I made last year and the tasks done by me.

As my project, had a database connection.. He asked me about JDBC?

Answer:– I told him the syntax of JDBC. But I forgot the function of Class.forName()..

Do you know JSP, Javascript and Servlets?

No, Sir.(This could be a bit diplomatic..)

Ok, Arindam Thank You for your time.

After 9 days, Codevita results were sent to us in email and I was shortlisted for Ninja offer.They mentioned that  I will receive the offer letter soon.

Only one guy from our college got a differential offer.

Important Note:– The Interview questions depend entirely on the panelist. Unless the Interviewer asks you about some new technologies, you cannot say that, “Sir kindly ask some Digital questions.. I want digital offer”.It entirely depends on the panelist.

In my opinion, GIVE YOUR BEST, TRY TO BE POSITIVE AND CONFIDENT WHILE ANSWERING .

This was my first job interview.
