TCS IGNITE hires graduates and final year students from BCA and BSC(IT/Maths) and the top 1000 performers are assigned IGNITE profile and others are assigned Smart Hiring profile. In the IGNITE program, you are most likely to get a development project you will also get an MCA degree from Sastra University.

Round 1(TCS NQT Exam): So in my case, the 1st round was the TCS NQT exam in which I was asked questions on Maths, Reasoning, and Verbal. The duration was 3 hours and then we had to go through a psychometric test which was MCQ-based for 30 minutes. The next day we had to go for giving the programming and IT exam for NQT.

The programming questions were fairly easy.

  1. Given the radius of the circle print the area but the catch was that the radius must be rounded off to 2 digits and many students didn’t knew the library function to round off a number so their test cases failed.
  2. Given a string like an example “acxyz” convert it into “zxcba” this was actually based on the caesar sypher technique.*Suggestion: Don’t use Java IDE it was a little buggy.
  3. And then we had 20 programmings MCQs.

After 1 month the results were announced I got 87% in my NQT aptitude and 95% in my programming and I was sent the link for the technical interview. One of my friend got 67% in aptitude, but he didn’t get the mail and one of my friend got 72%, and he got the mail, so you can take an idea for the cutoff.

Technical Interview:

  • The technical interview was completely based on the resume. My resume had a couple of projects on Django and React and also had my internship experience so I was continuously asked questions on Django, JavaScript, React, C++, RDBMS, and others it lasted for 30 mins approx and it was like a rapid-fire round they even asked me to write the code for liner search on my notepad and asked me to find the output of a program given by the panel. the panel has 4-5 interviewers.
  • They also asked in deep questions about my project and some behavioral questions like why we should hire you how would you lead the team and stuff.
  • Well, I would like to say one thing that if you don’t have any projects or internships then the interviewer will ask you in deep questions about OOPS and RDBMS my friends who didn’t have any projects were asked in deep about the concepts of OOPS. (So its completely fine to go without a project but if you add a thing in your resume which you cannot explain then you will get trapped).

The very next day I got my offer letter, and they initiated the BGC process.

*TCS is extremely fast…
