TCS hires through the TCS NQT test for two profiles, Ninja and Digital.

On clearing NQT you are eligible for Ninja Interview. If you are in the top 20% of performers, you are eligible for Toppers Test. If you clear the toppers test, you are eligible for Digital Interview. TCS NQT is a 3 hours test containing 4 sections:

  • Aptitude
  • Reasoning
  • Comprehension
  • Coding

I participated in TCS NQT in the 7th semester of B. Tech in 2021.

The first 3 sections were easy – medium-level objectives. Section 4 consisted of 2 coding questions. Out of the two coding questions, the first was an easy problem whereas the second was an easy – medium problem.

I performed descent in the test and was able to solve both coding questions. When the result came, I was in the top 20% of performers, so I was eligible for the Toppers test. Topper’s test consisted of two coding questions, one was medium level and another was medium-hard level. I was able to solve 1 problem with all test cases passed and was unable to solve the second problem.

After 15 days, the result for the toppers test came and I cleared it. My interview was scheduled after about 45 days. It consisted of 2 rounds, HR and Technical.

HR round:  The interviewer asked the following questions:

  • Introduce yourself.
  • Why do you want to join TCS?
  • Being an ECE student, why do you want to work in the IT sector?
  • Will you be ok to reallocate if selected?
  • Where are you from? – Khargone, MP
  • Is there something special about Khargone?
  • Who is the MP of Bhopal?

Technical round: Questions asked are:

  • Introduce yourself.
  • Do you know any programming language? – Python and C
  • In which language you are more comfortable, Python or C? – Python
  • Why Python?
  • What is a suite in python?
  • What is a list in Python?
  • Do you know about Tuple?
  • Difference between List and Tuple?
  • What is slicing and how to use it?
  • What is a class and how to create a class in python?
  • What is Inheritance and its types?
  • Difference between method and function?

The results of the Digital Interview came after 50 days. I received an offer letter for my Ninja profile(i.e. I didn’t clear interview for my Digital profile). I accepted the offer letter and was enrolled in the TCS Xplore program. TCS Xplore consists of training on different technologies. I was enrolled in Java and Python training. For me, training consisted of :

  • Python
  • Java
  • UI/UX
  • MySQL

and much more. In the Xplore program, all candidates got 2 chances for the digital tests. This time, Digital Test consists of advanced Aptitude, Reasoning, Comprehension, and Advance Coding round, just like NQT but at an advanced difficulty level. The advanced Coding round consisted of two coding questions, medium, and hard level. I was able to pass all test cases for the 2nd question and most of the cases for the 1st case. When the result came, I was eligible for Digital Interview.

Digital Interview: This interview was different from my previous interview. Questions asked are:

  • Introduce Yourself.
  • Have you done any projects? – IoT-based project( use of ML in future as I said in the interview)
  • What is IoT?
  • What will you use AI or ML?
  • Difference between AI, ML, and Deep Learning.
  • How is 5G related to IoT?
  • What are IPv4 and IPv6 and their differences?
  • Which two technologies would you like to work with if given a chance?
  • Do you know any programming language? Python and C.
  • Write a program to find a smallest prime factor of a number having only two prime factors. (This was to check my python knowledge, he asked me to make several changes while writing the code)

And when the result came, I was no more on Ninja profile. A new offer letter for Digital Profile.
