How to Read Table of 2?

2 times table is the simple and easiest table to learn. Students can easily memorize the table and solve problems based on it. Let us see how to read table of 2.

  • One(1) time two is Two(2)
  • Two(2) times two is Four(4)
  • Three(3) times two is Six(6)
  • Four(4) times two is Eight(8)
  • Five(5) times two is Ten(10)
  • Six(6) times two is Twelve(12)
  • Seven(7) times two is Fourteen(14)
  • Eight(8) times two is Sixteen(16)
  • Nine(9) times two is Eighteen(18)
  • Ten(10) times two is Twenty(20)

Representation of Multiplication Table as Addition

The table of 2 can be represented as multiplication as 2 times 3 i.e. 2 × 3 can be written as 2 + 2 + 2. This can be proved using the distributive property of multiplication as,

2 + 2 + 2 = 2×1 + 2×1 + 2×1
                = 2(1 + 1+ 1)            [using the distributive property of multiplication]
                = 2(3)
2 + 2 + 2 = 2 × 3

Similarly, the table given below represents the table of 2 in addition form.

2 × 1 = 2 = 2
2 × 2 = 2+2 = 4
2 × 3 = 2+2+2 = 6
2 × 4 = 2+2+2+2 = 8
2 × 5 = 2+2+2+2+2 = 10
2 × 6 = 2+2+2+2+2+2 = 12
2 × 7 = 2+2+2+2+2+2+2 = 14
2 × 8 = 2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2 = 16
2 × 9 = 2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2 = 18
2 × 10 = 2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2 = 20

Tricks to Remember Table of 2

Table of 2 is easily memorised with the help of tricks discussed below:

  • Table of 2 has only even numbers as (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, …)

Solved Examples 2 Times Table

Example 1: If Kabir gets 2 rupees as pocket money a day then using the table of 2 calculate how much money he gets in a week.

Solution:

Kabir gets rupees = 2 per day

No. of days in a weak = 7

Total money Kabir gets = 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 2
                                     = 2 × 7                                 [Using Table of two]
                                     = 14 Rupees

Total money Kabir gets in a week is 14 Rupees.

Example 2: If Karan eats 2 eggs per day, then using the table of 2 calculate how many eggs does he eat in 3 days?

Solution:

Eggs Karan eats per day = 2

Eggs Karan eats in 3 days = 2 + 2 + 2
                                         = 2 × 3
                                         = 6 eggs

Total number of eggs Karan eats in 3 days is 6 eggs.

Example 3: Using the table of 2 simplify 2 times 9 plus 2 times 3.

Solution:

By studying the table of two we know that,

2 times 9 = 2 × 9 = 18

2 times 3 = 2 × 3 = 6

Now,

2 times 9 plus 2 times 3

= 2 × 9 + 2 × 3

= 18 + 6

= 24

Example 4: Using the table of 2 simplify 2 times 7 minus 2 times 4.

Solution:

By studying the table of two we know that,

2 times 7 = 2 × 7 = 14

2 times 4 = 2 × 4 = 8

Now,

2 times 7 minus 2 times 4

= 2 × 7 + 2 × 4

= 14 – 8

= 6

Example 5: If Saumya writes 2 pages of English writing daily then using the table of 2 find the total page written by her in the month of April.

Solution:

English writing written by Saumya daily = 2 pages

No. of days in April = 30 days

Total pages writing written by Saumya = 2 × 30

                                                             = 60 pages

Total pages writing written by Saumya in the Month of April is 60 pages
