Societe Generale was one of the first few companies that visited our campus, students from various streams were eligible for the First Round. Around 300 people gave the online test.

Round 1: Online Test

The online test was for 90 minutes. The test was divided into four sections, the first section consisted of quantitative and logical questions. The second section had English. The third sections consisted of technical questions, questions were asked from DBMS, OS, Software Testing, and programming languages. The final section had two coding questions, the first question was, given a positive integer N, return the sum of digits at even places and odd places. The second question was given a string and an integer N, reverse N letters from the string.

The difficulty of this round was medium.

The results of this round came in after 2 days and around 35 people were shortlisted for the next round, I was one of them.

Round 2: Technical round 1

Usually, this round is supposed to be a group discussion but due to less number of students, they directly proceeded with technical round.

The questions were mostly from your resume, the projects you have done, any trainings sessions you have undergone etc. So make your resume in such a way that you are able to explain the things you have done clearly. The interviewer was kind and very polite.

I had questions related to file structures, SQL and Networking, ex. Sorting large files, checking if 2 large files are equal, writing SQL queries for retrieving data using aggregate functions and few questions related to computer networks.

This round is easy to clear if you are good with basics as the questions were very simple, about 20 people were shortlisted for the next round, I was one of them.

Round 3: Technical round 2

This round is basically an extension of the previous round.

Questions were asked like, swap values of two integers, without using a temporary variable. Questions based on hash maps, hash tables, collision avoiding, and hashing and other related data structures and their time complexities.

Questions were also based regarding the company, such as why SocGen?, why should we hire you?, asked your preference of field, etc. was also asked to question them to regarding job role, etc.

About 10 people were shortlisted for the next round, I was one of them.

Round 4: HR round

A typical HR round started with an introduction, about personal life, hobbies, questions regarding pressure handling, key points in life, your expectations from the company professional or otherwise.

was asked about work location either Bangalore or Chennai, i was ok with Bangalore. Then about shifts, which I was fine with.

They gave a rundown of the CTC and other benefits.

About 7 people were selected finally. I was one of them.

All in all the interview process was easy, the only challenge was the online test.
