Siemens Technology and Services Pvt Ltd visited my campus in September 2021 for an internship.

Interested candidates were asked to apply with their latest resumes. Based on the resume, candidates were shortlisted for the online aptitude assessment, which was the first round of the process.

Round 1(Cognitive Aptitude Assessment): We were given 61 MCQs and we needed to complete them within 45 min. There were three timed sections:

Section 1(25 Questions – 5 Minutes): These were easy questions like counting the number of consonants or vowels in a given word, the number of occurrences of a particular digit in a given number, a table with two columns and we had to tell a number of rows where the entry in column 1 is equal to entry in column 2.

Section 2(18 Questions – 20 Minutes): There were logical aptitude-based questions and comprehension-based questions. They were easy to moderate.

Section 3(18 Questions – 20 Minutes): There were quantitative aptitude-based questions and grammar-based questions. They were moderate to tough.

  • After three days, the list of shortlisted students was announced.
  • First, 12 candidates were shortlisted for the technical interview but later the list was extended to about 25 students.

Round 2(Technical Interview – 30 mins): The technical interview was conducted on the Microsoft teams platform. There were two interviewers. First, the interviewers introduced themself. Then they asked me to introduce myself. They asked me to explain the projects I have mentioned on my project. I had an ML project mentioned in my resume. They questioned me on that project for about 10 minutes

Then, they asked me about ML Algorithms which continued for almost 18 minutes. I was asked to explain

  • Dimensionality Reduction Methods: Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA)
  • Classification Algorithms: K-Nearest Neighbours, Decision Trees
  • Clustering Algorithms: K-Means Clustering, DBSCAN
  • Regression: Linear Regression

They asked me if I had any questions. I asked them about the role I would have and the specific skills that would be required for the internship.

After two days, the results were announced. 12 students were selected for an internship and I was one of them.

Suggestions:

  • Prepare the concepts in the resume and be confident about them.
  • You should be known of the skills used in your project.
  • Be honest with your interviewers. If you don’t know the answer, tell them you don’t know.
  • Don’t speak irrelevant stuff.

Verdict: Selected
