# Scala Map min() method with example

The min() method is utilized to find the smallest element of the map.

Method Definition: def min: (A, B)

Return Type: It returns the smallest element of the map.

Example #1:

 `// Scala program of min()``// method`` ` `// Creating object``object` `GfG``{ `` ` `    ``// Main method``    ``def` `main(args``:``Array[String])``    ``{``     ` `        ``// Creating map``        ``val` `m``1` `=` `Map(``"geeks"` `-``>` `5``, ``"for"` `-``>` `3``, ``"cs"` `-``>` `2``)``         ` `        ``// Applying min method ``        ``val` `result ``=` `m``1``.min``         ` `        ``// Displays output``        ``println(result)``    ``}``}`
Output:
```(cs, 2)
```

As we can see in above example cs is the smallest element in the map.
