Python VLC MediaPlayer – Setting Mute Status
In this article we will see how we can set the mute status of the MediaPlayer object in the python vlc module. VLC media player is a free and open-source portable cross-platform media player software and streaming media server developed by the VideoLAN project. MediaPlayer object is the basic object in vlc module for playing the video. If status is true then mute, otherwise unmute @warning This function does not always work. If there are no active audio playback stream, the mute status might not be available. If digital pass-through (S/PDIF, HDMI…) is in use, muting may be unapplicable. Also some audio output plugins do not support muting at all. @note To force silent playback, disable all audio tracks. This is more efficient and reliable than mute.
In order to do this we will use audio_set_mute method with the MediaPlayer object
Syntax : media_player.audio_set_mute(True)
Argument : It takes bool as argument
Return : It returns a None
Below is the implementation
Python3
import vlc
import time
media_player = vlc.MediaPlayer()
media = vlc.Media("death_note.mkv")
media_player.set_media(media)
media_player.audio_set_mute( True )
media_player.video_set_scale( 0.6 )
media_player.play()
time.sleep( 5 )
|
Output : Another example Below is the implementation
Python3
import vlc
import time
media_player = vlc.MediaPlayer()
media = vlc.Media(" 1mp4 .mkv")
media_player.set_media(media)
media_player.video_set_scale( 0.6 )
media_player.audio_set_mute( True )
media_player.play()
time.sleep( 5 )
|
Output :
