In this article we will see how we can get the current audio track of the MediaPlayer object in the python vlc module. VLC media player is a free and open-source portable cross-platform media player software and streaming media server developed by the VideoLAN project. MediPlyer object is the basic object in vlc module for playing the video. For a single video can be available in many audio tracks for example a movie can has english audio track as well as hindi audio track. Current audio track is the audio track that currently playing in the media.
In order to do this we will use audio_get_track
method with the MediaPlayer object
Syntax : media_player.audio_get_track()
Argument : It takes no argument
Return : It returns the audio track ID or -1 if no active input
Below is the implementation
import vlc
import time
media_player = vlc.MediaPlayer()
media = vlc.Media( "death_note.mkv" )
media_player.set_media(media)
media_player.video_set_scale( 0.6 )
media_player.audio_set_volume( 80 )
media_player.play()
time.sleep( 5 )
value = media_player.audio_get_track()
print ( "Current Audio Track : " )
print (value)
|
Output :
Current Audio Track :
1
Another example
Below is the implementation
import vlc
import time
media_player = vlc.MediaPlayer()
media = vlc.Media( "1mp4.mkv" )
media_player.set_media(media)
media_player.audio_set_volume( 70 )
media_player.video_set_scale( 0.6 )
media_player.play()
time.sleep( 5 )
value = media_player.audio_get_track()
print ( "Current Audio Track : " )
print (value)
|
Output :
Current Audio Track :
-1
