In this article we will see how we can create a media path from the Instance class in the python vlc module. VLC media player is a free and open-source portable cross-platform media player software and streaming media server developed by the VideoLAN project. Instance act as a main object of the VLC library with the Instance object we can create media player, list player or any other player available in VLC. Instance class the base classed used in VLC to create various objects. Media path is basically path or we can say it is a media object created by using the file path.

In order to do this we will use media_new_path method with the Instance object Syntax : instance.media_new_path(path) Argument : It takes file path as argument Return : It returns Media object

Below is the implementation

Python3

# importing vlc module
import vlc

# importing time module
import time

# creating Instance class object
player = vlc.Instance()

# creating a new media list
media_list = player.media_list_new()

# creating a media player object
media_player = player.media_list_player_new()

# creating a new media path
media = player.media_new_path("death_note.mkv")

# adding media to media list
media_list.add_media(media)

# setting media list to the mediaplayer
media_player.set_media_list(media_list)

# start playing video
media_player.play()

# wait so the video can be played for 5 seconds
# irrespective for length of video
time.sleep(5)

Output : Another example Below is the implementation

Python3

# importing vlc module
import vlc

# importing time module
import time

# creating Instance class object
player = vlc.Instance()

# creating a new media list
media_list = player.media_list_new()

# creating a media player object
media_player = player.media_list_player_new()

# creating a new media path
media = player.media_new_path("1.mp4")

# adding media to media list
media_list.add_media(media)

# setting media list to the mediaplayer
media_player.set_media_list(media_list)

# start playing video
media_player.play()

# wait so the video can be played for 5 seconds
# irrespective for length of video
time.sleep(5)

Output :
