# Python | Numpy matrix.flatten()

• Last Updated : 12 Apr, 2019

With the help of `Numpy matrix.flatten()` method, we are able to `flatten` of a given matrix and gives output as one dimensional matrix.

Syntax : `matrix.flatten()`

Return : Return flatten 1-D matrix

Example #1 :
In this example we can see that with the help of `matrix.flatten()` method we are able to flatten a given matrix.

 `# import the important module in python``import` `numpy as np``        ` `# make matrix with numpy``gfg ``=` `np.matrix(``'[6; 2; 3]'``)``        ` `# applying matrix.flatten() method``geeks ``=` `gfg.flatten()``  ` `print``(geeks)`
Output:
```[[6 2 3]]
```

Example #2 :

 `# import the important module in python``import` `numpy as np``        ` `# make a matrix with numpy``gfg ``=` `np.matrix(``'[1, 2, 3; 4, 5, 6; 7, 8, 9]'``)``        ` `# applying matrix.flatten() method``geeks ``=` `gfg.flatten()``  ` `print``(geeks)`
Output:
```[[1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9]]
```
