PyQt5 ComboBox – User entered items store alphabetical order

In this article we will see how we user entered item get added at alphabetically position in the combo box i.e when user insert item in the editable combo box it get inserted at the position at which is in alphabetical order in the drop down list, by default when user insert any item it get inserted at the bottom.

When item get inserted it will not replace or overwrite the item which was before at position although it will shift the position of other items to get added at the desired position. It doesn’t make items in alphabetical order which was added programmatically.

In order to make combo box such that item inserted by user get added at alphabetical position in the drop down list we have to do the following –

1. Create a combo box
2. Make the combo box editable using setEditable method
3. Set insertion policy of combo box to insert alphabetically
4. Create label
5. Retrieve the insertion policy and show it with the help of label
