PyQt5 – Closing pop up items of ComboBox when push button is pressed

In this article we will see how we make combo box to hide its elements without clicking on it, in order to do this we will use hidePopup method.

Syntax : combo_box.hidePopup()

Argument : It takes no argument

Action performed : It will hide the pop up elements

Steps for implementation :

1. Create a combo box
2. Add items t the combo box
3. Create a push button
4. Add action to the push button such that when it get pressed method should get called
5. Inside the method hide the pop up with the help of hidePopup method.

    def __init__(self):
        # setting title

        # calling method
        # showing all the widgets
    # method for widgets
    def UiComponents(self):
        # creating a combo box widget
        self.combo_box = QComboBox(self)
        # setting geometry of combo box
        self.combo_box.setGeometry(200, 150, 120, 30)
        # geek list
        geek_list = ["Geek", "Geeky Geek", "Legend Geek", "Ultra Legend Geek"]
        # adding list of items to combo box
        # creating push button
        button = QPushButton("Click !", self)
        # adding action to the button
    def action(self):
        # hiding the pop up
# create pyqt5 app
App = QApplication(sys.argv)
# create the instance of our Window
window = Window()
# start the app
