Power BI – How to Share the Dashboards?

The reason to develop,  Power BI online service was to create a dynamic sharing and updating of reports and dashboards. This helps developers, to work on a real-time project, and also helps to keep track of the entire project by others. Hence, having knowledge of how to share Dashboards is important. In this article, we will learn how to share the dashboards in the power bi online service. 

Sharing Dashboards in Power BI

Consider an example, you have a dashboard name sample, and you want to share the dashboard with some restricted people. 

The following are the steps: 

Step 1: Open your Power BI online service. Go to My workspace.

Step 2:  All, the reports, and datasets published on the power bi online service, will be visible here.

Step 3: You can observe a dashboard name sample, in the My Workspace

Step 4: The dashboard is opened. Click on the Share button.

Step 5: A dialogue box name, Share dashboard appears. This dialogue box comprises three parts. Part1 is the area, where you can enter the names or email addresses of the persons, to which you want to provide access. Part2, contains three checkboxes, the first box, asks, whether the recipients of this dashboard can share this dashboard ahead or not, the second box, asks, whether the recipients of this dashboard can make changes in it, with the data held with this dashboard, the third box, asks, whether an email has to be sent on the recipient’s mail id or not. Part3 is the area, where you can add a message while sharing this dashboard.

Step 6: Add a suitable mail id, in Part1 of the Share dashboard dialogue box. For example, Gautam goel or an email id, xyz@domain.com. Check all the boxes, in Part2, and enter a message if required in Part3. Click on the Grant access button. 

 

Step 7: Gautam goel has successfully been granted access to the dashboard.
