I recently applied at Phyllo for the position of Software Engineer – Frontend through LinkedIn. After two days got the Code Judge online assessment link. The Test consisted of

  • 10 HTML Questions (MCQ)
  • 10 CSS Question (MCQ)
  • 10 ReactJS Questions (MCQ)

After completion of this, a couple of days late got a call from the recruiter regarding the next round

Technical Discussion 1: This round was completely based on Web Basics. Such as HTML, CSS and JS. Some of the questions asked were

  • Different types of the Display property
  • Inline tags and block tags
  • What does DOCTYPE mean?
  • Hoisting
  • var let and const
  • Event loop
  • JS asynchronous or synchronous
  • React Hooks
  • Lifecycle of react components
  • Online editor tasks like centering a div and small react task to evaluate your approach

After this round got the call for the next round which was direct with the CTO of the company. This round was focused mainly on DSA, Problem Solving, and also cultural fit.

Technical Discussion 2: This round started with the interviewer introducing himself followed by my introduction. In this Round Two DSA Questions were asked and One puzzle was as follows

After these questions, the interviewer moved to non-technical questions like

  • Why should we hire you?
  • Why Phyllo?
  • Strengths and Weaknesses
  • When can you join if selected

In the end, the interviewer asked if I have any questions.
After a day I got a call from a recruiter saying that I was not selected. I was not able to solve the Maximum number of Islands Problem
One thing to note was that both of the interviewers and the recruiter were super friendly
