A strait is a narrow canal connecting two seas or huge bodies of water. Commercial shipping travels across the world’s straits to go from one sea or exclusive economic zone to the next, and they are extremely strategic and commercially important. The straits act as a conduit for ocean currents, which alter the climate of the region.
