Nomura Holdings visited our Campus in 2023.

Aptitude Round: Three Sections of questions: 

  1. Verbal
  2. Quantitative  
  3. Technical  

Technical Round 1: After entering the meeting interviewer greeted me and started my interview with a simple question Tell me about yourself

  • He went through my resume and told me to explain all the projects in the resume.
  • He asked me about one of the projects in detail, ER diagram flow of my project. (Covering all entity, and relationships)
  • Which sorting algorithms do I know What is the meaning of Time Complexity, what is the complexity of Algorithms that I know?
  • He asked me to write a code for merge sort and Program to count the occurrence of a given character in a string – GeeksforGeeks
  • Questions related to my extracurricular activities in detail.
  • Then He Displayed a Database of Employee tables which consist of two tables.
  • He asked me to write queries about:
  • a] Joins
  • b] group by
  • c] aggregate functions
  • What is normalization and its types?
  • What is the OSI model? Use of presentation layer.
  • lastly, He asked me about my educational background.
  • we were running out of time, but he had many questions for me.

Questions I asked him:  

  • How a typical day at work looks in Nomura?
  • What are your expectations from us as interns??

Technical Round 2:

  • Introduce yourself.
  • What are collections frameworks? Which of the collections do you know? Explain each one of them.
  • A list of strings is given, you need to remove the duplicate strings from it, how will you do it?
  • He had a sheet of various programs. He asked me to explain the concepts used, the logic, the flow of the program, and the output of each program along with some follow-up questions. Programs were based on OOP concepts, DSA, Java Collections, lambda functions, and patterns.
  • Project discussion
  • Are you a team player or an individual player?-I answered team player. Follow up, questions-Why team player? How do you handle differences between team members?
  • I mentioned my experience of working for the operations team. Follow-up questions-So what work did you do? What did you learn from your experience there?
  • If I am ready to work in any position available for interns

Questions I asked him:  

  • Internal Mobility in the tech stack

 HR Round:

  • Introduce yourself.
  • How was your experience at the Microsoft Engage program?
  • Are you comfortable with relocation? would your parents support you?
  • Do you have any plans for Higher education?
  • Are you preparing for any competitive exams?

Result: Selected as an intern at Nomura Holdings
