Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria that you need to satisfy to apply for the NIELIT exam 2020 is provided below:

1. Age Limit: The maximum age should not be more than 30 years for both the posts – Scientist B and Scientific Assistant-‘A’ as of December 31, 2020.

Selection Process and Exam Pattern

The candidates for the post of Scientific Assistant ‘A’ will get selected based on the performance in Online Written Exam only whereas the selection of the candidates for the post of Scientist ‘B’ will be based on the performance in Written Examination and Interview. The Written Exam will consist of Multiple-choice Questions and there will be a total of 120 questions (1 mark each) that need to be solved within an overall duration of 3 hours. Also, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer.

Moreover, the cut-off marks for passing the written exam will be 50% for General and EWS Category candidates, 40% for OBC candidates and 30% for SC /ST / PWD candidates. For Scientist ‘B’ post, the weightage of marks for written exam and interview will be in the ratio of 85:15. You must keep in mind that the document verification for the post of Scientist ‘B’ will be done at the time of interview and it will be done before joining for Scientific Assistant ‘A’ post.

The important topics that you need to cover to score well in the exam are provided below:

1. Technical Area – For Computer Science / Computer Engineering (65% Weightage)

2. Generic Area (35% Weightage)

Schedule and Vacancies  

There will be a total of 49 vacancies out of which 39 vacancies are for Scientific Assistant ‘A’ and 10 for Scientist ‘B’ posts. Also, the selected candidates will be liable to be posted anywhere in the country as decided by the organization. Candidates can opt for any of the exam centers for written examination from the following: Agartala, Bangalore, Calicut, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Mumbai. However, you need to know that no change of exam center will be permissible at a later stage and the interview for the post of Scientist ‘B’ will be conducted only in Delhi.

How to Apply?

The application form for NIELIT Scientist B and Scientific Assistant-‘A’ Recruitment 2020 can be filled in online mode with an application fee of Rs. 400/-  for SC / ST / PWD / Women candidates and Rs. 800/- for the General category and all other candidates. Also, the candidates can apply for both the posts but only one stream (CS / IT / Electronics) per post. The steps to fill the application form are provided below:

  1. Firstly, you’re required to visit the Official Website.
  2. Here, you can register yourself by clicking on the ‘New User Registration‘ link and by providing the required details like email ID, mobile number, etc. After successful registration, a Registration ID will be generated.
  3. Now, you need to log in with the Registration ID that you received earlier, and then a dashboard will be displayed on your device screen.
  4. Now you need to fill the detailed application form and after verifying all the details you can proceed with the payment process.
  5. On a successful transaction, a receipt will be generated. You’re advised to take a printout of the e-receipt and online application form for future use.

Also, you need to know that if you’re applying for more than one post then you have to submit separate applications for each post and remit the application fee for each post separately.
