Class 9 NCERT Math Solution

Following is the chapter wise solution of class 9 math.

Chapter 1 – Number System

Chapter 1 briefly covers the concept of rational and irrational numbers, real numbers, and their representation on the number line. This chapter in total consists of six exercises, including a total of 27 questions, out of which 5 are easy, 7 are mid-level and 10 are difficult questions. Exercise 1.1 helps to learn the basics of rational and irrational numbers, and Exercise 1.2 explains the concept of real numbers and their expansion.

Further, Exercise 1.3 helps to learn ‘How to represent real numbers on the number line’. Later, in exercises 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6 mathematical operations, rationalizing, and laws of rational exponents and integral powers for real numbers are discussed.

Chapter 2 – Polynomials

The chapter Polynomials guides to learning polynomials of degree 1 (Linear polynomials), 2 (quadratic polynomials), 3 (cubic polynomials), etc. and terminology related to it. This chapter also covers the concept of factor theorem, algebraic identities of quadratic polynomials, split the middle theorem, algebraic identities for cubic polynomials, etc. 

In this chapter five exercises are there, that consist of a total of 33 questions. 10 are mid-level, 14 are basic and 9 are tough-level problems. Exercises 2.1, and 2.2 cover topics like polynomials in one variable, zeroes of a polynomial, types of polynomials, and their degree.

Exercises 2.3 and 2.4 are based on the concept of the factor theorem. Further, Exercise 2.5 helps to learn the algebraic identities of quadratic and cubic polynomials and split the middle theorem.

Chapter 3 – Coordinate Geometry

This chapter on coordinate geometry helps to learn the concepts of the Cartesian plane and various terminology related to it in detail. The chapter deals with problems on various subtopics like determining the x and y coordinates of a point in a cartesian plane, identifying quadrants, locating an object, and expressing it in the form of coordinates.

There are three exercises in this chapter, that consist of a total of 6 problems in class 9 Maths chapter 3 coordinate geometry. Out of which 1 is easy, 2 are moderate and 3 are challenging problems. Exercise 3.1 explained How to locate a point on the coordinate plane. While Exercises 3.2 and 3.3 discussed the topic of Plotting a point in the plane if its coordinates are given.

Chapter 4 – Linear Equations in Two Variables

Linear equations in one variable have been already discussed in earlier classes that deal with Chapter unique solutions. Now, in this chapter linear equation comes with two variables like ax + by + c = 0. Thus, this chapter introduces the concepts like solutions including solving linear equations, graphical representation methods, and the depiction of parallel lines.

Exercises 4.1 and 4.3 are designed to learn about the formation and determination of the solution of a linear equation in two variables. However, Exercises 4.3 and 4.4 gave detailed learning of the topic of the graph of a linear equation in two variables.

Chapter 8 – Quadrilateral

The chapter Quadrilateral is all about the different types of quadrilaterals (rectangle, square, parallelogram, trapezium, etc) and their different properties like the angle sum property of a quadrilateral. Chapter 10 – Circles

This chapter is related to the different properties and the terminology of the circles. The chapter Circles included various topics such as angles subtended by a chord at a point, perpendiculars dropped from the center to a chord, and how to calculate the distance of equal chords from the center. Other discussions include angles subtended by an arc of the circle, cyclic quadrilaterals, and their attributes.
