MoviePy – Getting Start Time of Video File Clip
Last Updated :

In this article we will see how we can get the start time of the video file clip in MoviePy. MoviePy is a Python module for video editing, which can be used for basic operations on videos and GIF’s. When the clip is included in a composition, start time is time of the composition at which the clip starts playing (in seconds).
In order to do this we will use start
attribute with the VideoFileClip object
Syntax : clip.start
Argument : It takes no argument
Return : It returns integer
Below is the implementation
from moviepy.editor import *
clip = VideoFileClip( "dsa_geek.mp4" )
clip = clip.subclip( 0 , 5 )
value = clip.start
print ( "Start Time : " , end = " " )
print (value)
clip.ipython_display(width = 360 )
|
Output :
Start Time : 0
Moviepy - Building video __temp__.mp4.
Moviepy - Writing video __temp__.mp4
Moviepy - Done !
Moviepy - video ready __temp__.mp4
Another example
from moviepy.editor import *
clip = VideoFileClip( "geeks.mp4" )
clip = clip.subclip( 0 , 5 )
value = clip.start
print ( "Start Time : " , end = " " )
print (value)
clip.ipython_display(width = 360 )
|
Output :
Start Time : 0
Moviepy - Building video __temp__.mp4.
Moviepy - Writing video __temp__.mp4
Moviepy - Done !
Moviepy - video ready __temp__.mp4
