MoviePy – Getting Original File Name of Video File Clip

In this article we will see how we can get the original file name of the video file in MoviePy. MoviePy is a Python module for video editing, which can be used for basic operations on videos and GIF’s. Original file name is the name of the original video that existed in the first place i.e which was loaded, even after altering and editing of the video we can get the original name of the file.

We can load the video file clip with the help of command given below

clip = VideoFileClip(file_name)

In order to do this we will use filename attribute with the VideoFileClip object

Syntax : clip.filename

Argument : It takes no argument

Return : It returns string

clip1 = clip.subclip(0, 10)

# resizing the clip1
clip1 = clip1.resize(0.5)

# rotating the clip1
clip1 = clip1.rotate(180)

# getting original file name of the clip
name = clip1.filename

# printing the name
print("File Name  : " + name)

print("---------------------------------------")
