MoviePy – Getting Height of Video File Clip
  • Last Updated : 01 Aug, 2020

In this article we will see how we can get the height of the video file in MoviePy. MoviePy is a Python module for video editing, which can be used for basic operations on videos and GIF’s. Height is the part of the dimensions of the video, height is basically the tall the length of video is.

We can load the video file clip with the help of command given below

clip = VideoFileClip(file_name)

In order to do this we will use h attribute with the VideoFileClip object

Syntax : clip.h

Argument : It takes no argument

Return : It returns integer

Below is the implementation

# Import everything needed to edit video clips
from moviepy.editor import *

# loading video dsa gfg intro video
clip = VideoFileClip("dsa_geek.webm")

# getting subclip from it
clip1 = clip.subclip(0, 10)

# getting height of the clip
height = clip1.h

# printing value of width
print("Height of clip  : " + str(height))

print("---------------------------------------")

# showing final clip
clip1.ipython_display(width = 480)

Output :

Height of clip  : 480

Moviepy - Done !
Moviepy - video ready __temp__.mp4

Another example

# Import everything needed to edit video clips
from moviepy.editor import *

# loading video gfg
clip = VideoFileClip("geeks.mp4")

# getting subclip from it
clip1 = clip.subclip(0, 7)

# getting height of the clip
height = clip1.h

# printing value of width
print("Height of clip  : " + str(height))

print("---------------------------------------")

# showing final clip
clip1.ipython_display()

Output :

Width of clip  : 404
