In this article, we will look into how to easily start, restart, or stop multiple VMs in Microsoft Azure. You may already know that you could start, stop,  and even delete VMs inside of the Azure portal.  But did you know that you could do these operations to multiple VMs at the same time?

Let’s go over to the virtual machine section.  Here we have two virtual machines running.

First, we are going to select both of them as shown below:

Now, at the top,  we can hit “Start” to start both the Virtual Machines.

Since both our virtual machines are already running it won’t do anything.

We can also click on the “Restart” option to restart both the VMs at once:

This will restart both our VMs at once.

To stop both the virtual machine at once we can hit the ‘Stop” option as shown below:

It will ask you for a confirmation as shown below before stopping the VMs:

As you can see in the below image, clicking on the Stop options terminates both the VM instances:

It might take a few moments,  and both of our VMs would stop running.

That’s how easy it is to carry bulk operations such as start,  stop, or even restarting your VMs inside of the Azure portal.
