In this article, we will discuss how to make the most out of your trial subscription using the Azure Quickstart Center in the portal.

Azure Quickstart Center provides popular services, tutorials, and guides to get started in your Azure journey. To find Azure Quickstart Center, you can find it in the default list of services on the Azure Portal homepage. If you don’t see Azure Quickstart Center in the Azure services section of the portal home page, you can also navigate to the search tab and find the Azure Quickstart Center by typing in Quickstart Center.

The Azure Quickstart Center aims to make it easy to start a project. It provides services and goals, setup guides, as well as online courses to help us get started on our Azure journey.

Let’s start with creating a project. Click on deploy a virtual machine. You can see two types of virtual machines shown—a Windows virtual machine and a Linux virtual machine.

If you know which virtual machine you want, you can click the create button.

However, if you want more information about the service, click the learn more tab on each service found at the bottom of the card. The card will expand to reveal more information. Here you’ll find some relevant information, such as an expanded explanation and reference architecture which will help understand a typical scenario of how a service will work with other services in Azure. It’ll also provide you with a five-minute Quickstart tutorial, as well as recommended SKUs and pricing options to get you started and use your free trial credit.

After learning the given information on the page to create your service, you can click the create button. The button will take you to a prefilled template for the service. You may also need to fill in the required information to create the service. Here, you can see a bunch of different options to help you customize and create the virtual machine that’s perfectly fit for you and your organization.

You do have recommended items, such as the size. So, click on see all sizes. If you’ll recall, the Azure Quickstart Center provides B1S as a recommended size to select for your free trial, select that.

Next, fill out all the required information from the resource group, the virtual machine, region, so on and so forth. If you want, you can continue to customize by clicking on the different tabs or you can also, go through a walkthrough menu by clicking next.

Once you are ready with all of your customization and options that are right for you, you can hit review and create. You’ve created your first service using Azure Quickstart Center.
