Log Analytics collects data from a variety of sources and uses a powerful query language to give you insights into the operation of your applications and resources. Log Analytics’ cost depends on your choice of pricing tier, data retention, and which solutions are used. Let’s see how we can change the retention days for Log Analytics Workspace. Let’s dive into the implementation.

Implementation:

Follow the below steps to configure log analytics data retention

Step 1: Log in to Azure Portal.

Step 2: Access the Log Analytics Workspace >> Select your Log Analytics

Step 3: After selecting the select Log Analytics Workspace, Navigate to General >> Usage and estimated costs.

Step 4: Select Data retention >> Select Data retention Days.

Note: Retention for Application Insights data types default to 90 days and will get the workspace retention if it is over 90 days. To set the retention on these types to be less than 90 days, set the retention on each of these data types.

Step 5: Click on OK to save the changes.

That’s it! You are done. At this point, you have successfully configured log analytics data retention in Microsoft Azure.
