Hello everyone, Micron Technology visited our campus on August 29th, 2021 for full-time roles for the 2022 graduating batch. There was a total of 3 rounds for us.

Round 1: Written-test includes four sections

  1. Aptitude. It had 15 MCQ’s to be attempted in 20 mins.
  2. Programming (Output-based questions). 10 MCQs in 15 mins.
  3. Technical (Subjective questions). 25 MCQs in 30 mins.
  4. Coding. 2 questions in 45 minutes.

I did all the questions from the first three sections and one coding question complete. 22 students were selected for the next round for three different roles i.e., MFG, ETD, BDA.

Round 2: Technical Interview

Time: 45 min for me it was 60 min.

  • My interviewer was very understanding and never made me feel stuck at any point in my whole interview. It started with my introduction and then the interviewer introduced himself too. I was asked to explain my projects and there was some cross-questioning involved, you just need to know your projects well. Then he made me comfortable by talking about my college and stuff. After this, he asked me two simple puzzles. The first one was 3 ant puzzle (https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/puzzle-21-3-ants-and-triangle/) and the second one was the Faulty ball puzzle (https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/problems/faulty-ball-puzzle). After this, he asked me a very basic coding question which was to find the frequency of a character in a string, even though it is a super simple problem I gave him all the approaches I knew i.e. one was keeping a simple count variable, second using hashing.
  • Then he asked if I am comfortable with OOPS questions to which I answered yes and then he went deep into it and we spent around the next 15 minutes on that. Then he asked which subject would I want next to which I said we can do Operating System and then he asked me what is thrashing, what is paging, we also went into various paging algorithms, differences in semaphores and mutex, what is a zombie process, what is RAID. Then when he was thinking of more questions to ask I said you can ask me questions on DBMS too (to which he actually laughed that) then he started with  ACID properties, various keys in a relational database, various relations which exist in tables, and other basic DBMS questions which are mostly asked in interviews. I was also asked to write an SQL query on finding the Nth salary of the employee. In between, he also asked me some questions like what I like to do in my free time, what qualities of me make me a good team player, and also a good team member. In the end, he asked me if I had any questions for him to which I asked him some interesting questions.

After this round 12 were selected for the final Tech+HR round.

Round 3: Tech + HR

Time:  30 min

  • My interview started with the interviewer telling me about the role I was selected for which was MFG. Then I was asked to give,y introduction and asked to explain some of my projects which I had mentioned in my resume, there was no cross-questioning as such.
  •  As my interview was last so I had only HR-type questions like what I know about Micron, How will I be the perfect fit for the role, etc? Then I was asked if I had some questions for the interviewer and then I asked about the culture of the company so we had at least 10 min conversation on this.

By the end of the day, 4 were selected for the FTE offer and luckily I was one of them.

Tips:

  • Be honest if you don’t know the answer to some questions tell them and not just guess things.
  • Know each and every word you mentioned on your resume.
  • Be very vocal throughout the interview and let the other person know what you are thinking about.
  • At last, try giving some mock interviews as it helps you to build confidence. I personally think that apart from knowing the answers which I believe my peers knew too the thing which kept me ahead was my confidence level throughout the whole interview and not being nervous if I couldn’t answer something.
