L&T Interview Experience

Hello Everyone!!! After long wait interviews for L&T through diploma has been started in November Due to covid this year interviews were conducted in center virtually.

• BRANCH:Electrical
• VENUE:Bangalore
• DATE:17th September 2020

Reporting time was 9:00 a.m.

After security and temperature checks, we were taken to the seminar hall where the process started with a presentation about L&T by one of the officials of the company. ID cards were given to everyone with numbers on them according to the order of interviews. After the presentation, we had a small break for some snacks and tea.

Then we went for document verification which was very smooth.

Half of the batch was called for interviews while another half was for GD/GT(Group Discussion/Group Task).

I was in the second group. At around 11 am,12 of us were called for the GD/GT. There were 2-panel members who acted as moderators for the discussion. They were very supportive at every stage and they clearly said all rules in GD and GT and all they wanted to see is how you perform in groups and a chance will be given to everyone for speaking. We are told to chose one of the chits which consist of topics for GD.

• GD Topic:Open book system pros cons and challenges.

  The discussion was very good and it lasted for about 15 minutes.

• GT: We were given a situation where our Aeroplan crashed in California and was given a list of 17 things and we have sufficient place to carry only 7 things. we need to come to a common conclusion and give a priority order for the 7 things.

Everything went good and we waited for our turn for the Interview. I went inside at 12:20 am

There was a separate room with a small screen placed where we can see the whole panel. The panel consists of four people, one female, and the others male. (let’s call them M1,M2, M3 and W1) . I think M1 is the chairperson. So it started like this.

• Me:Good afternoon ma’am. Good afternoon sir.

• M1:Good afternoon. How are you?

• Me:I’m fine sir. How are you, sir?

• M1:We are all fine pranav, Tell us about yourself

• Me:Gave a well-prepared answer. About my name, my schooling, and college, my family, my projects. They stopped me at that section and asked what was my project about. I explained.

• M1:Why L&T?

• Me:Answered what all L&T is doing and about future prospects of L&T

That was everything from the chairperson. After that M2 started

M2:

1. What are the types of DC motors used in refineries?
2. Which motor is most widely used and why?
3. How is the maintenance of machines done?
4. What is the parameter that is checked?
5. What is insulation resistance? what is its value?
6. What is meggar and why it is used?
7. What is an earth pit? What should be the value of resistance?
8. How is earth resistance measured?
9. what is the earth grid?
10. how will you cut down the power consumption cost of the company?

He said Thank you and passed it to the female member

F1:

1. Questions about family members
2. About my projects? Software
3. How it helps L&T
4. How is power generated for the refinery?
5. Compare diesel and coal-based power plant

Passed on to M3

M3:

1. Why are petroleum prices higher?
2. Why cannot the government print money?
3. what happens if petrol gets subsidized and prices get reduced?
4. How will it impact the economy?

M1:Ok. Thank you.

Me:Thank you, ma’am. Thank you, sir.

The interview lasted about 20 minutes.

Final TIPS:

• Language is not a barrier. You can speak Hindi/ English and there is no issue with language.
• Be confident in an interview. Questions will be from the very basics and they mostly test your presence of mind. Always carry a smile and try to reflect positivity through your answers.
• For electrical read basics of Power systems and machines.
