jQWidgets is a JavaScript framework for making web-based applications for PC and mobile devices. It is a very powerful, optimized, platform-independent, and widely supported framework. The jqxMaskedInput represents a jQuery widget that is used to adding masks to distinguish the input numbers in a proper way. This widget is mainly used to write phone numbers, zip codes, dates, etc. by using the mask.

The promptChar property is used to set or return the prompt character that is displayed when an editable char is empty. It accepts String type value and its default value is “-“.

Syntax:

Set the promptChar property.

$('selector').jqxMaskedInput({ promptChar: String });

Return the promptChar property.

var promptChar = $('selector').jqxMaskedInput('promptChar');
