Infineon Technologies visited BIT Mesra in September 2020(virtually) for software and hardware interns. I applied for software role. They conducted 4 rounds.

Round 1 (Aptitude + Technical MCQ): This round was held on GeeekAssess platform which had third eye proctoring(Make sure you have an extra mobile phone for this). There were 6 sections including Aptitude, Microcontrollers, Web Development, Embedded C, Python, C++. Each section had a time limit of about 20-25 minutes. Total time for the test was 90 minutes. Questions were from intermediate to hard level.

(No negative marking)

Out of 600 students who applied around 100 students were selected for the interview round which was held the next day.

Round 2 (Technical Interview -1): The interview started with a basic introduction. The interviewer asked me about my favorite subject from my branch to which I replied Fiber Optics. Since my branch was Electronics and Communication, most of the  questions were from digital electronics, semiconductors, analog communication, microprocessor and microcontrollers. Few questions which I remember are-

  1. Difference between FET and MOSFET.
  2. Difference between RISC and SISC architecture.
  3. Modulation techniques(ASK, FSK, PSK, QPSK).
  4. What is caching?
  5. How wave travels in optical fiber and the principle behind it.

Some questions were based on C programming language-

  1. Use of “register” keyword in C.
  2. Use of  “volatile” keyword in C.
  3. Logic to count number of set bits in a decimal number.
  4. Range of values that signed and unsigned char can hold.

The interview lasted for about 1.5 hours and I cleared it.

Round 3 (Technical Interview -2): The interviewer asked basic questions on memory management in C. Questions from semiconductor and interfacing peripherals with microcontrollers were asked.

This round lasted for about 30 minutes. Both the technical interviews were held on Webex platform.

Round 4 (HR): I was briefed about the internship project and the team with which I was going to work with. Question about willing to relocate was asked to which I replied yes. This was a 15 minute phone call.

The whole process was quick and smooth, all the rounds were completed within a day.

And voila I was selected along with 12 others..!!
