Odd one out is an important topic and student can expect questions ranging from 3-6 in SSC exams. SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, SSC MTS etc are exams where student can see high frequency of these type of questions. Lets briefly know, what is odd one out. 

Odd one out refers to the entity different from given set of options. Option which don’t follow the logic, pattern or similarity from other options are taken as odd one out from other given option. It can be of different form

Direction for Questions 1-20: In each of the following questions, four words have been given of which three are alike in some way and one is different. find the odd one out.

Q1. Find the odd one out

Answer: d

Solution: This question is related to number based odd one out. Mostly logic follow in this type of questions are Prime number, square/cube, Divisibility, odd even etc. 
But here logic is 
a. 127 – 27 -1 
b. 255 – 28-1
c. 511 – 29-1
d. 729 – 36

a. 792
b. 198
c. 973
d. 897
Answer: c

Solution: This question is related to number based odd one out. Mostly logic follow in this type of questions are Prime number, square/cube, Divisibility, odd even etc. 
Odd even logic will not follow here as 2 numbers are odd and 2 are even
But here logic is
a. 792 is divisible by 3
b. 198 is divisible by 3
c. 973 is  not  divisible by 3
d. 897 is divisible by 3 
Note: to check divisibility always start with smaller number.

Answer: b

Solution: All the given words except Euphoria are negative words. Euphoria means a state of being in intense happiness. Despondency, Melancholy and sorrow are synonyms of Sadness.

Solution: All the option mentioned are example of Non metal. Except Bromine all the non metal either present in solid or gaseous form. Bromine is present in liquid state. 
Additional information: Non-metal does not possess lustre but iodine does.

Answer: b

Solution: Second pair of letters are exactly in opposite position of first pair and difference between the letters within the pair is 2. 
For example U is opposite of F, S is opposite of H, Q is opposite of J. 
F+2=H, H+2=J
But in pair VTQ : EGJ, V+2=T, T+3=Q. Hence VTQ : EGJ is odd one out.
