Implementation of CMMS

CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System), as name suggests, is a way of digitally managing the maintenance process of a system. It maintains a computer database having information regarding maintenance functions or operations of organization. This information helps team members to do their work properly and effectively and make stronger decisions regarding anything such as cost investment, preventive maintenance, etc.

1. Calculate Value :

Obviously, if we are implementing something, we want some benefits from it. One should know answer to questions like “How CMMS benefits Employees, organizations, customers?”, How CMMS will help team members to use maintenance information more effectively? These questions are basic needs any of organization.
2. Work Closely with Key Departments :
   Mutual understanding among departments can make collaboration smoother and more effective. Working with members of other departments can give new skills and perspectives. Great things in organizations are never done alone, they are done by a group of peoples. Including members from other departments like production, IT, planning, purchasing, etc. In the CMMS planning team will help in achieving organization goals fastly and effectively.
3. Take Inventory :
   Every organization wants to know about how much inventory they have and how much it is required. Information regarding inventory makes it possible for one to plan effectively. Inventory management is not an easy task to do. It takes time and one needs to be very careful. Inventory control is very essential as it reduces cost and improves service. If database is not managed properly then CMMS implementation might fail. One Needs to control inventory by doing inspection and going through assets that one wants to track in CMMS.

   PM (Preventive Maintenance) is one of the best methods to save money and prevent assets of failure. 5. Manage Implementation Actively :
   Once you have implemented something doesn’t mean your task is completed. One needs to manage implemented processes and address changes to maintain things continue doing their work i.e. maintain momentum.
6. Test Hardware and Software :
   Testing hardware and software will help one to identify any issues if present and resolve them to increase system performance. When one wants to buy or upgrade CMMS, testing is one of important task one need to perform to simply ensure successful implementation.
7. Inspect CMMS :
   CMMS is also a type of system or asset, it can also get damaged or failure might occurrence, or breakdown might occur if there is not maintenance strategy. One needs to implement PM for CMMS to keep regular checks on CMMS and avoid any chances of failure occurrence. This will simply lifecycle of CMMS.
