It had total 4 rounds and each one was an elimination round.

Round 1 (Online Assessment): This was conducted on Hackkerrank platform on 20th of September, 2021.

  • One coding problem in 45 minutes. It was not a very hard problem. it went like- Given an array of floors at which an elevator would stop and a string representing the current direction of elevator (up/down).
  • You were required to print the order in which the elevator would stop at the floors in one round trip. I did this one with all test cases passing.

Round 2 (Cognitive Ability Assessment): A day after the online assessment I got a mail stating I have cleared the coding assessment.

  • Next step was taking the Cognitive Ability Assessment. The link was shared. In this round I had to play 5 games and had to achieve a score as high as possible.
  • The games were- Shortest distance between two balls, make the figure on the right using boxes on the left, etc. I found this round to be the trickiest if I’m being honest.

Round 3 (English Assessment): About 36-40 hours after completing the Cognitive Ability Assessment I got the mail stating I have cleared the round and I was supposed to take an English Assessment.

  • This test went for about 15-20 minutes. This was very easy.
  • It had questions on synonyms, antonyms, sentence completion, etc. There was no limit on number of questions. You had to complete as many questions as possible within the given time frame.

Round 4 (Personal Interview): I got an email confirmation regarding clearing the English Assessment a day after round 3. But the interview took place about 14 days after the email confirmation.

  • I thought I was rejected based on my Cognitive Ability Assessment score. But one day I got a call from HR at about 12:30 pm about scheduling the interview and she scheduled it for 3 pm the same day.
  • The interviewer was nice and friendly and mostly asked questions about projects, OOP and behavioral questions like how did I come up with a creative solution to a technical problem I faced, dispute handling, etc.

5 days later I received a Congratulatory mail from IBM that I am selected for the job!
