HSBC Interview Experience for Trainee Software Engineer 2022-2023

HSBC visited our campus on 24th August 2022 and offered Software Engineer Intern profile. It was open for all branches. It had 3 online rounds followed by 2 rounds of Interviews.

Online Test: There were 2 online assessment rounds.

Round 1 was held on September 9th

Round 1: Aptitude Assessment (30 minutes) Here you can take 3 languages C,C++,Java so there were general mcq questions on java which I completed in 30 minutes here we need to be quick and fast enough to complete.

Round 2: Online Coding Assessment (45 minutes)

• Question 1 (Very Easy):  finding distance between a letter
• Question 2 (Easy) : it was creating a polygon inputting sides and adding all the sides and return.

After my assessment I was shortlisted for next round which was Behavioral Assessment.

Round 2: Behavioral Assessment was Held on September 15th: Here you should be fast enough to choose the particular option which assess the kind of person you are. Then It took time to declare the shortlists for Interviews we had interview scheduled for 7 colleges which was held on 13,14 of October and 7,8 of November.

After my assessment I was shortlisted for next round which was Technical Interview.

Interview Rounds: There was one Technical round and one HR round.

Technical Interview: (30-40 minutes): Here you should be very confident on your resume where each and every question will be based on resume never include the concepts you don’t know it could affect you easily for me every question was based on resume. Here you should be confident with your answers and should prove that you are a good learner.

• I have mentioned few skills in my resume which he asked me to pick top 3 (I said Java, Python, R).
• Explain About your Project? (My project was related to Product Based and Data Analytics).
• Difference between String builder and String Buffer
• OOPS Concept explain briefly with proper examples 
• He asked me to explain a process to check list 1 is a subset of list 2.
• He asked me a analytics question with an example of a sport event which I explained it conceptually where he was impressed with my answer.
• Questions on python related to data analytics
• He asked me what is agile methodology and it’s process as I mentioned in my Resume
• At the end I asked him the tech stacks used in HSBC and the types of cloud used!

After 30 minutes I was notified that I have been shortlisted for HR Round

HR interview: (15 minutes): 

• Tell me something about yourself
•  If you are given a leadership role how do you handle it?
• How did you handle the situations when you had conflicts in you team?
• How was your College Life?
• He asked me which location Do I prefer either Hyderabad or Pune?

After my Interview, I was Selected!!!!!!!!

Topics concentrated on:
Data Structures & Algorithms, Machine Learning, DBMS.

Suggestions:

• Prepare your Resume well, as they ask questions mostly from your Resume (The internship project is what they mostly focus on). 
• Don’t include anything in your resume that you don’t know very well. 
• If you don’t know any answer, just say no and avoid guessing. 
• Basic knowledge of Data Structure and algorithms is very important. 
• Be confident while answering and maintain eye contact with the Interviewer.
