Microsoft Surface is a special laptop edition by Microsoft. Earlier, Microsoft can only deliver the operating system Windows to laptops & computers. But with time, they start making laptops also. Microsoft Surface has the operating system as Windows only. It is not only the laptop. It is also a tablet. Users can use it for both purposes. The screen can be detached from the device. Then it starts working as the Tablet itself. But that tablet can only be used to draw or like a simple android mobile. Using the tablet as the laptop can only be possible if the user attaches the keypad to it. Taking a screenshot on Microsoft Surface is a very important topic to discuss. Sometimes users don’t find a way to take a snapshot of what they are needed. There are mainly two ways to take a screenshot. One is only applicable to the Laptop version of the Microsoft Surface. While the other one can also be applied to the Laptop & Tablet version of Microsoft Surface. We have to go through the steps carefully to get knowledge about it.

By Snipping Tool:

Step 1: At first, if we are using the device as the Laptop, we have to press three keys simultaneously. We have to press the following keys.

Windows+Shift+S

Pressing these keys at the same time will hold the screen for taking the shot. If the device is being used as the Tablet, we have too long press on the screen. This will help to hold the screen for taking the snap of the window which we are seeing.

Step 2: Now, if we are using Microsoft Surface as a laptop, we need to use the mouse to take the snap. We have to click on the desired part of the screen & drag the mouse there. After that, we have to leave the mouse. If we are using  Microsoft Surface as a tablet, we need to use one finger only. Using one finger, we need to drag over the screen. This will help to take the necessary screenshot part over there.

Note: While using Microsoft Surface as the Laptop, we can also use our fingers to drag over the screen to take the screenshot. There will no problem if we use the finger at this stage. But it is advisable to always use the mouse while taking the screenshot.

Step 3: Now, after taking the screenshot, the file is now saved to the default location Picture in File Explorer. We can easily browse there to find out that.

Note: This method can be used for both laptop & tablet forms. But the process of taking the screenshot is different for each of them.

By Using Paint Brush:

Step 1: At first, we have to add the Keypad to the Microsoft Surface. There we need to press two keys simultaneously. There we will press the following keys.

Ctrl+Prtsc

Pressing these two keys will take the snap from the screen.

Step 2: Then we have to open the Paint software. There we need to paste the taken screenshot. After pasting the screenshot, we need to save the file.

Step 3: This file is going to save to the default location. Or if needed, the location can be changed as per the requirement of the user.

Hence, we have successfully taken a screenshot on Microsoft Surface.

Note: This method can only be used as the Laptop. As in this method, we will use the keypad to take the screenshots. So, this method can only be applied to the Laptop format of Microsoft Surface.

Using Buttons and Keys:

From the original Surface to the Surface 3, Microsoft decided not to add a print screen button to the official Touch Cover or Type Cover accessories. This makes taking screenshots no easier than on a computer. Owners must execute key combinations to execute commands rather than using specific keys.

Step 1: Press and hold the “Windows” icon key on your tablet screen.

Step 2: Hold down the Windows key and simultaneously press the side volume down (minus) rocker as shown above. At this point, the screen dims and then lights up again, as if the camera had taken a snapshot. Once you have taken the screenshot, follow the steps below to find it.

Step 3: Click or tap the “folder” icon on the taskbar to open File Explorer.

Step 4: Click or tap the image listed on the left, or select “OneDrive” instead if your screenshots are configured to save to the cloud.

Step 5: Double-click or tap on the *Surface * folder to access your images. Compatible third-party keyboard covers may include a Print key. It allows users to take screenshots with a single touch. Otherwise, use her two-button instructions above.
