In this article, we are going to see how to lock the scaling flip of a text canvas using FabricJS. The canvas means text written is movable, rotatable, resizable and can be stretched. Further, normally it can be scaled into the negative side to flip the text but we will lock scaling flip so that it cannot be flipped. Further, the text itself cannot be edited like a textbox.
To make it possible, we are going to use a JavaScript library called FabricJS. After importing the library using CDN, we will create a canvas block in the body tag which will contain our text. After this, we will initialize instances of Canvas and Text provided by FabricJS and use the lockScalingFlip property to lock scaling flip and render the Canvas on the Text as given in the example below.

fabric.Text(text, lockScalingFlip: boolean);

Parameters: This function accept two parameters as mentioned above and described below:

  • text: It specifies the text to be written.
  • lockScalingFlip: It specifies whether to enable or disable the scaling flip lock, disabled by default.

Example: We can use FabricJS to lock scaling flip of a canvas-like text as given below.

<!DOCTYPE html>
        lock scaling flip of a canvas-type text with JavaScript
    <!-- Loading the FabricJS library -->
    <script src=
        h1 {
            color: green;
        <b>lock scaling flip of a canvas-type text</b>
        <canvas id="canvas" width="600" height="200"
                style="border:1px solid #000000;">
            // Create a new instance of Canvas
            var canvas = new fabric.Canvas("canvas");
            // Create a new Text instance
            var text = new fabric.Text('GeeksforGeeks', {
                lockScalingFlip: true
            // Render the text on Canvas
