How to install Simplenote on Ubuntu

Simplenote is a helpful note-taking program. It allows us to write thoughts, take notes, and write down vital information. Many platforms are supported, including Windows, Android, iOS, Mac OS X, and Linux. It is also accessible over the internet. Simplenote is a React-based application that also works on the electron. It synchronizes your data across all of your devices and keeps it up to date. In this article, we will install the Simplenote application on Ubuntu Operating System.

Installation of Simplenote on Ubuntu

Simplenote application can be installed through two methods:

• Install Simplenote on Ubuntu using Debian Package
• Install Simplenote on Ubuntu using Snap

Let’s go through both methods one by one.

Method 1: Install Simplenote on Ubuntu using Debian Package

Step 1: Download the Simplenote’s Debian Package by executing the below command in the terminal.

wget https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/releases/download/v2.3.0/Simplenote-linux-2.3.0-amd64.deb

Step 2: Now, update the repositories of the Ubuntu system by executing the below command.

sudo apt update

Step 3: Install the downloaded deb file by executing the below command.

sudo apt install ./Simplenote-linux-2.3.0-amd64.deb

Step 4: Launch the application through the terminal or through Activities Panel by typing the application name in the search box.

Method 2: Install Simplenote on Ubuntu using Snap

Step 1: Firstly, install the snap store by executing the below command.

sudo apt install snap

Step 2: Now, install the Simplenote application through snap. Run the below command.

sudo snap install simplenote 

Step 3: Open the application by typing the name of the application in the terminal itself.

simplenote
