Knoppix is one of the major operating systems for computers. Knoppix is made by Linus distribution. Knoppix is the operating system based on the Debian design. This means this operating system has the ability to run directly without installing it. This means, there should be some ISO files in the Knoppix distribution. This ISO file needs to be added to the CD or DVD. And then the operating system will start running. There is no need to install the device separately. So, Knoppix is open-source software that is available on the internet. But the CD or DVD era has now changed. There is no need to take any more hardware devices to run this operating system.

But to install Knoppix in the physical machine itself, it needs the help of the CD or DVD drive. Using any third-party software like VMWare will install Knoppix in that software. So, that might not be a goal of the user. So, in that case, users might want to follow the second method to install Knoppix. In that case, users need to directly install Knoppix on the physical machine itself. For that, they need to be followed some steps. Also, they need to have a CD or DVD to run this process. Users can purchase a CD drive from the market before going through this process.

Step 1: At first, users need to open the CD driver of the machine. Users need to insert the CD into that driver space. After inserting the CD, users need to close the driver. This is the simple driver-inserting process. Every machine has a CD driver inserting space. Users need to use that.

Step 2: Users need to open the browser. And then users need to browse the Official Download Page of the Knoppix. From that download page, users need to choose the ISO file. Then users need to click on that to install it.

Step 3: After downloading the file, users need to browse the downloaded folder in the file explorer. Users need to right-click on the downloaded ISO file. Users will find a bunch of options there. Among them, the user needs to choose the option Burn Disk Image. Users need to click on that.

Step 4: Now, a new window will open in front of the users. This is the Burn Image window. This will help to integrate the ISO file into the inserted CD. Users need to click on Burn to start the process.

Step 5: This might take a long time. Depending upon the machine configuration & the CD drive size, consumption time might be changed. So users need to have patience while the process is going on.

Step 6: At the end of the process, users need to restart the machine using the power button. Users need to keep the CD in the machine as it is. It is advised not to remove the CD from the machine. This will be necessary for the next step.

Step 7: While restarting the machine, the device will automatically move inside to the boot menu. As the CD drive is present in the machine, it will directly take users to the Boot menu option. In the boot menu, users need to click on the CD-ROM Drive option. This will help to open the Knoppix operating system in the machine.

Step 8: Now, Knoppix will start running. It will take some time to completely execute. But there is no need to do more configurations.

Step 9: After waiting for some time, users will land on the Knoppix home screen. Now, users can remove the CD drive from the machine. The next time, when users want to use Knoppix, they don’t need to use that CD drive again. Users can directly start it from the Boot menu.
