How to Install FreeFileSync on Ubuntu

File synchronization is a phenomenon that allows you to keep your data up to date across numerous devices. For example, suppose you have a file in the cloud and another on your PC. Even if one of the files is updated, the synchronization will update the content of both. One of the most popular file syncing programs is FreeFileSync. FreeFileSync is supported by an open-source community and is accessible on a variety of platforms, including Windows, Linux, and macOS. This article will guide us through the process of installing FreeFileSync on Ubuntu. 

Installation of FreeFileSync on Ubuntu

Follow the below steps to successfully install the FreeFileSync application on the Ubuntu system.

Step 1: Navigate to the official page of FreeFileSyncapplication and go to the downloads section.

Step 2: Click on the downloads button, and download the file for Linux Operating System.

 

Step 3: Our downloading process is been started.

 

Step 4: Navigate to the Downloads directory and list out the files by executing the below command.

cd Downloads
ls

 

Step 5: Now, we need to extract the tar package. Execute the below command to extract the package.

sudo tar -zxvf FreeFileSync_11.21_Linux.tar.gz

 

Step 6: We need to run the FreeFileSync_11.21_Install.run file through the terminal.

./FreeFileSync_11.21_Install.run

 

Step 7: Now, add the following lines of code shown in the below screenshot in the FreeFileSync.desktop file.

 

Step 8: Search for the FreeFileSync application in the Activities Panel.

 

Step 9: We have opened the application successfully.

 

Step 10: We are performing Synchronise on the local directories of the system.
