Deluge is a lightweight BitTorrent client that is free, open-source (GPL3), and available for Linux, FreeBSD, macOS, and Windows. It comes with a plethora of plugins that you may use to increase its capabilities.

Installation of Deluge on Ubuntu

Deluge 2.0.3 is available in the Ubuntu 20.04 software repository. However, when a newer version is released, the Ubuntu team will need to upgrade it. Install it from the official Deluge PPA to ensure you get the most recent version as soon as possible. Open a terminal window and perform the three commands listed below one at a time.

Step 1: Install Software Properties by using the following command.

sudo apt install software-properties-common

Step 2: Add PPA to list of Sources.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:deluge-team/stable

Step 3: Install Deluge using the following command:

sudo apt install deluge

This PPA is also compatible with other Ubuntu-based Linux distributions such as Linux Mint and Elementary OS. If you already have deluge installed, the preceding instructions will upgrade it to the most recent version. Don’t worry, your current torrents will continue to function normally.

You may launch it from the application menu once it has been installed.
