Enlightenment is available for all Linux components & it is the same for all versions.

Installation of Enlightenment in Linux

Step 1: At first, we need to open the Linux terminal. Then we have to execute the following command. This command will start a repository on Linux. It is a very important step that needs to be performed. This installation will require a repository in the machine. So, it is advisable to create a repository before going to the installation.

add-apt-repository ppa:niko2040/e19

Step 2: After creating the repository it is advisable to update all the components of the Linux machine. Else it will prompt an error while installing the Enlightenment. for performing that we need to execute the following command.

apt-get update

Note: It is advisable to go for this step without skipping. Else, at any time due to not upgradation to the latest version, installation may get hamper. It will stop the installation by prompting an error message. That is why executing this command will not prompt such errors.

Step 3: Now we will move to the installation of the Enlightenment. For that purpose, we need to execute the following command. This command will start the installation. It will take some time. As it will first download it. then it will start installing. Hence, we have to wait till the installation is completed.

apt-get install enlightenment

Configuration & Usage of Enlightenment

Step 1: Now, after successfully installing the Enlightenment, we have to configure & use it. For that purpose, first, we need to log out of the system. We are going to log out from the default window manager.

Step 2: Then we have to click on the icon to see different options to login.

Step 3: After that, we have to go for the Enlightenment option. We should not go for the default option. As it will send us to the same place again. We have to click on the Enlightenment option.

Step 4: Then the Enlightenment will start running. We have to choose our desired language. Then click on Next. The Next button is available at the bottom of the window.

Step 5: Then in the next case, we should not make any changes. Enlightenment will provide some more options but we don’t make any changes here. We will click on Next.

Step 6: After that, Enlightenment will provide some choices to the user. This option is for the front size choice. According to the system choice the user can choose any option. Choosing anything different will not prompt an error. Otherwise, the user can go for the default choice also. After that, we need to click on Next. The next button is available at the bottom of the page.

Step 7: There is no need to change from the default one. Changing to the other option may prompt problems for different computers.

Step 8: Again there is no need to change from the default one. The users should move to the Next step without making any changes in this field. Users should keep all things as it is.

Step 9: Then we should Enable the option. We should not make a checkmark here. If we disable this option updates will not install on the machine automatically. Hence, after some time Enlightenment will stop working.

Step 10: After we completed the configuration, Enlightenment will start running.

Step 11: After waiting a few seconds, Enlightenment Window Manager will finally start working. Here we find the taskbar at the bottom. The window is different from the usual Linux window.

Step 12: Then if users need it, they can open the terminal which is a very important part of Linux.

Note: This configuration is to be performed only one time. After this time, when the user switch to the Enlightenment, they will come directly to the Enlightenment Window.
